While London is known as the iconic filming location for everything from James Bond to Notting Hill to Doctor Who, some rural villages outside of the capital have also made names for themselves on the big screen.
Hugh Grant fans will remember Four Weddings and a Funeral, where his character Charles falls in love with Carrie (Andie MacDowell) at a wedding and has a memorable evening with her before meeting her again at consecutive weddings and funeral .
Though you may recognize London as the film’s main location, some of the four weddings shown on the 1994 Rom-Com take place in the Home Counties.

Although the first wedding is said to be at St. John’s Church in Somerset, the scene is actually filmed at St. Michael’s Church in Betchworth, Surrey.
You may recognize the town’s quaint, medieval church – the Grade II listed St. Michael’s Church – as the location of the wedding of Angus and Laura in the first scene of the film.
And if you really feel like escaping the capital to remember your favorite ’90s Hugh Grant rom-com, Betchworth is just an hour’s drive from central London.

Definitely worth a visit is Betchworth House – the largest building in the village – from the 17th century.
Betchworth even has its own castle just outside the village.
It stands on Betchworth Golf Course, just off the A25 between Brockham and Dorking, and dates back to the 11th century.
If you’re looking for a quaint country pub to rest your feet and have a bite to eat, The Dolphin is near St. Michael’s Church with log fires and a large beer garden that is open whatever the weather is perfect.
