Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews announced on Saturday the 21st

The lockdown is currently scheduled through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, September 2, and the curfew applies to Melbourne from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day.

When can i leave my house?

In Victoria, you can only leave your home for one of five approved reasons – similar to previous bans.

The reasons are: shopping for the bare essentials; authorized work when you cannot work from home or education; exercise for up to two hours; caring, compassionate, and medical reasons; and get vaccinated.

Necessary workers unable to work from home will need a permit to go to work starting Tuesday, August 17 at 11:59 p.m.

Can I go out at night?

A curfew has been reinstated, meaning people in the greater Melbourne area will have to stay at home between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

How long will the ban last?

The Melbourne lockdown was initially extended to August 18, but as local broadcasting continues, it has been extended to 11:59 p.m. Thursday, September 2.

How far can I travel from home?

Shopping and exercising in Victoria must be within 3 miles of your home.

What are the rules for the exercise?

Victoria has a two hour exercise limit and you can only be with one other person and be within 3 miles of your home. Fitness studios have closed their doors again and community sports are also suspended. Outdoor exercise equipment including skate parks are closed.

What are the rules for wearing face masks?

Masks must be worn everywhere except your home. This includes both indoor and outdoor areas – unless you have a doctor’s exemption. It also applies to all workplaces and secondary schools.

From Saturday, August 21, at 1 p.m., all primary school children are advised to wear masks indoors and outdoors, except at home or in exceptional cases.

Masks can no longer be removed to drink alcohol outdoors.

What are the rules for construction?

Large construction projects are only allowed to have 25% of their workers on site, and smaller construction projects will have a maximum of five workers.

Additional restrictions on the movement of craftsmen between construction sites are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Is the regional Victoria included?

Yes sir. Starting Saturday, August 21 at 1:00 p.m., lockdown rules apply across the state, with the exception of the evening curfew, which is only in Melbourne.

Can I have a visitor in my house?

No, visitors to homes in Victoria are not allowed except for an intimate partner or nominee for a single person.

What about the border bubble between Victoria and NSW?

Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews has announced that people living in communities on the border with NSW will need to apply for a travel permit for the bubble. People can submit an application, but the approval rule won’t enforce until 6pm on Friday.

What if I live in Victoria but am in NSW and want to return home?

Only those who are deemed Authorized Workers and who have been granted a compassionate exemption can be granted entry to Victoria from NSW.

What about public gatherings?

Public gatherings are not allowed in Victoria.

What is happening to the schools?

Schools have switched to distance learning, with the exception of children at risk and children of key workers. Higher education has also switched to distance learning.

Day care centers and kindergartens are still open.

Can I dine in a restaurant or café?

No. In Victoria, Restaurants, cafes and pubs are only open to take away.

Are the shops open?

Necessary retail stores such as supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open. Other shops are closed.

What about weddings, funerals, and church services?

Funerals can be held indoors and outdoors with up to 10 people, as well as those required to conduct the funeral.

Weddings are not allowed unless there is an end of life or other exceptional circumstances.

People involved in the production of religious programs must be the same group of people each time.

What about elderly care and hospitals?

Except for limited reasons, visitors are not allowed in elderly care facilities. No hospital visits are allowed, except at the end of life if you are a partner when your child is born or a parent is accompanying a child.

Can I go and get vaccinated?

Vaccination is one of the reasons people who are eligible for vaccination can leave their homes. The Victorian government has extended eligibility to state-run vaccination centers to include people between the ages of 40 and 49.
