EastEnders’ Chris Coghill looks different from the bad guy Tony King 13 years after his debut

EASTENDERS star Chris Coghill looks completely different from the bad guy Tony King over a decade after making his TV debut.

The soap star rose to fame in 2008 when he was cast as the controversial role of Tony – who was introduced to Albert Square as Bianca Jackson’s friend.

The abuser Tony became part of the family with Bianca – played by Patsy Palmer – as he became a father figure to their four children, including Whitney Dean.

He began attacking Whitney – played by Shona McCarty – in disturbing scenes, as well as her school friend Lauren Branning, played by Madeline Duggan.

Tony’s predatory nature was quickly exposed by the Walford residents and he was arrested for his crimes before finally going to jail in 2009.

Now – almost 13 years after his last appearance on BBC One soap – the star has shocked fans with the incredibly different looks of his TV role.

46-year-old actor Chris has swapped his clean-shaven look for a thick full beard and let his curly locks grow so far that they can be combed back.

He was seen posing for a picture with a friend on Twitter in the summer of 2020 when the pal gushed that he was a “top actor” and “great writer”.

Since appearing on EastEnders, Chris has joined The Royal as an ambulance driver Bobby Sheridan and in the BBC One drama Moving On.

He also had a small role in the fourth season of the hit crime drama Line Of Duty, as well as in Waterloo Road, The Bill and Holby City throughout his career.

Off the big screen, Chris married his ex-wife and celebrity chef Lisa Faulkner in 2005 after meeting on the set of a TV show years earlier.

The couple adopted a daughter after returning to Malaysia from their luxury honeymoon – but sadly, the marriage ended in 2011.

Last year EastEnders fans were stunned when we discovered what the child soap stars look like now, years after their debut.

Many of the BBC soap’s child stars have made careers in completely different fields – for example, little Janine Butcher, who landed on Google.

We also revealed what some of the most famous EastEnders stars look like now – from Ian Beale to Pauline Fowler.
