Authorities closely monitor weddings in DK | Mangaluru news

Mangalore: Although the latest government circular on Covid-19 restrictions does not specifically mention weddings, the Dakshina Kannada District Administration has directed Gram Panchayats (GP) and municipal local bodies (ULB) to monitor the functions and ensure that there are no violations .
The government recently introduced curbs for Christmas and New Year celebrations. Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra told reporters that the maximum number of guests according to the previous government circular is 400. People should be more responsible at weddings and follow government guidelines, he said, adding that the respective GPs and ULBs have been asked to oversee the functions.
“People should strictly adhere to government restrictions. It is up to GPs and ULBs to monitor Covid-19 restrictions in their respective areas. In the meantime, people should also take responsibility and hold weddings within the framework of state restrictions. We have directed the authorities in the GPs and ULBs to take action against those who break the norms at weddings. According to the government circular, the maximum number of people allowed in any role is 400, ”the DC said.
He said that many religious events are also held in temples, churches and mosques. “Self-regulation is important rather than lockdowns and other severe restrictions that will further affect the economy. Don’t be irresponsible just because the county council isn’t acting tough, “the DC said.
“All shopping centers and multiplexes were asked to check the vaccination certificates at the entrance. In the next phase, ID cards will also be checked for people at the entrance to shopping malls and other public places if the number of Covid-19 cases, especially the Omicron variant, increases, ”he said.
The DC also warned all students traveling to their homes in Kerala during the Christmas season to be careful. “It is essential to bring an RT-PCR negative report with you and stay in quarantine for 7 days. You should also not mix with other students during the quarantine. The positivity rate in Kasaragod is around 6% and in Kerala it is 8-9%. In Dakshina Kannada, it is less than 0.2% and the district has 164 active cases, ”he added.
