A Louisiana man was arrested on his wedding night after allegedly opening fire on a freeway while he was still wearing his tuxedo.

The incident happened Saturday night on Bonnet Carré Spillway when Devin Jose Jones, his new wife and male friend got stuck in traffic in a car accident on their way back to Alexandria, St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre told WVUE.

According to Tregre, Jones accused his new bride of having an affair with the male boyfriend. Then he got out of the car, is said to have shot at the friend and also shot at another car in traffic.

“There was a bad accident where the bridge was closed and while the accident was being worked on, someone got out of their vehicle, approached other vehicles and shot innocent people stuck in traffic in their cars!” Witness Brian Chappell Jr. wrote about the incident on Facebook. “We are currently still stuck in traffic while the police try to locate the active shooter !!!!!! I have my .45 with me, on my lap and ready to defend myself or everyone around me if it does have to be!”

According to police, Jones’ wife escaped from the car and sought refuge in the ambulance to help those involved in the car accident. St. John Parish MPs found Jones pounding the vehicle to get to her.

Alcohol is said to have played a role in the incident.

Two victims of the shooting were transported to a nearby hospital, according to local media reports.

Jones was arrested for attempted murder, aggravated assault, and two-time aggravated property damage, according to the prison.
