Suffolk and Essex are now able to dine and drink under canvas – pubs, restaurants and hotels have hired teepees to make alfresco drinking more hospitable.
Many businesses have been forced to take a look at their outdoor space to welcome customers back to the al fresco dining and drinking.
Current guidelines allow pubs, bars and restaurants in England to be open for al fresco dining with the “rule of six” or tables of two households.
No earlier than May 17, two households or groups of up to six people will be allowed to mingle indoors, and a limited number of people will be allowed at sporting events.

Events Under Canvas, a teepee company based in Capel St. Mary, had a devastating year in 2020. Almost all events and weddings have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, it was fully booked last October when restrictions eased and people could drink and dine outside.
They had 14 different customers and all 24 tipis were in use, some even in use in pubs in central London before the November lockdown.
Now, many pubs and restaurants have rented the teepees after restrictions were eased on April 12th – and they are proving to be very popular.

A spokesman for Chestnut Group, which has a number of pubs in Suffolk and Essex, said: “We are fortunate enough to have large outdoor spaces on all of our properties and since the tipis were so popular during the winter months it made sense to have events Under Canvas to work together to create a safe, relaxed space for guests to use once the restrictions have been eased. “
