The former army captain from Staffordshire, now a TV presenter and writer, was the first person to walk the 4,250-mile length of the Nile. His expedition was filmed for Channel 4, and he went on to film Walking the Himalayas and Walking the Americas. During the first lockdown he volunteered to shift bodies to the local mortuary.
