Minnie Dlamini opens up about closing major life chapters and entering a ‘season of rebirth’

  • Minnie Dlamini is returning to self after going through highs and lows in 2022.
  • The mother of one admitted that “this life thing isn’t easy” on social media.
  • Despite all this, Dlamini is still going strong and gearing up for her movie debut.

Her 2022 got off to a rocky start. Minnie Dlamini and her former husband, Quinton Jones, had called it quits on their marriage after two years, but 11 months later, she is still going strong and, on the journey, to finding herself again.

Taking to social media, the mother of one said finding herself again “is quite the journey”. She also admitted that “this life thing isn’t easy”.

Dlamini opened up about life not being easy in a KFM interview when she shared that speculation about the breakdown of her marriage affected her work. In the interview, she said she “lost a lot of business as a result of people making up stories about me”.

At the time of announcing their split, Dlamini and Jones, in a joint statement, dismissed social media speculation that Dlamini’s alleged extra-marital affair with a businessman had led to their divorce. In the caption, she added they stayed “friends, business partners and loving parents to our son”.

Apart from closing the chapter on her marriage in the past year, Dlamini also closed the chapter on the sport and lifestyle show she hosted alongside Lungile Radu after airing its final episode in September. She took to social media and thanked her colleagues for “the memories and making magic on screen every week”.

“It’s been such a pleasure and a show that broke all boundaries in SA entertainment,” she wrote in the caption of a post on social media. “I could never have done this without each and every one of you, and I can’t wait for when we get to work together again. I love you all deeply.”

Despite closing two chapters of her life, she opened a new one when she launched The Mansion Lounge and Rooftop Bar in Centurion, Pretoria. She said she launched it in spring on social media as it is the “season of rebirth”.

After the launch of the establishment, Dlamini went on to share she returned to acting in upcoming movie The Honeymoon. The movie also stars Tumi Morake and Kajal Bagwandeen.

The film, directed by Bianca Isaac, unpacks the story of friendship as Noks (Morake) and Lu (Dlamini) persuade a devasted Kat (Bagwadeen) to turn what was supposed to be her honeymoon in Zanzibar into a girlfriend’s getaway after her fiancé calls off the wedding the night before.
